Order Questions

I entered the wrong address at checkout! How can I update it?

Please email us at support@violentcatlady.com as soon as possible if you make this mistake! Orders can ship in as little as 15 minutes after being placed, so it is always best to double check your address before confirming your order.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 24 hours of purchase. However, during busy times, such as shop updates or the holidays, there may be slight delays. We always do our best to get your package in the mail as quickly as possible, so that you can get to knitting! We appreciate your patience!

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we do! However, additional charges may be required when you pick up your package from your local post office. These fees are the buyers responsibility. Shipping rates and estimated delivery times will still be provided at check out for international orders. If you have any questions, please check with your local postal service for more details on potential fees.

Can I exchange my order?

We can only offer exchanges if you received the wrong item. If there was a mistake with your order, please email support@violentcatlady.com with a copy of your order confirmation and a photo of the item you received. We’ll be happy to arrange an exchange and make things right!

Can I return my order?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept returns at this time. As a small business, we don’t have the necessary infrastructure to process returns, but we hope this will change in the future! If you have any issues with your order, please reach out to support@violentcatlady.com, we want you to be happy with your purchase and we’ll do our best to find a solution. Thank you for your understanding and continued support!

My package was stolen after delivery, can I get a replacement?

Unfortunately, we are not responsible for your package after the shipping provider has marked it as delivered. If your package is lost in transit, please contact us so we can file a claim with the shipping carrier.

What should I do if my tracking hasn’t been updated since the label was created?

Shipping carriers may take some time to update their tracking information, especially if the package is in transit or waiting to be picked up. We recommend waiting 48-72 hours for any updates to show up. If there’s still no update or if you think there’s an issue with your order, reach out to us at support@violentcatlady.com, and we can help!

Yarn Information

Do the knitting kits account for extra yardage?

Throughout our test knitting process, we determine the exact yardage needed for each size. When creating our kits, we include a small buffer of extra yardage to account for slight differences in gauge and knitting style. It is normal to have some leftover yarn after finishing a project, especially if you make personal adjustments to fit or length.

Does all my yarn come from the same dye lot?

We do our best to ship all your yarn from the same dye lot, but due to the structure of our order fulfillment it cannot be guaranteed. With hand-dyed yarn and small-batch productions, slight variations in color across dye lots are normal. If you receive yarn with notable variation in appearance, we recommend alternating skeins every 2-3 rows!

For an easy way to alternate skeins, check out this video.

Does my yarn get wound?

At this time, we do not offer yarn winding services. Some of our yarns come as skeins, which need to be wound into a ball or cake before use.

If you don’t have a swift and winder at home, you can easily wind your yarn by hand:

  1. Unwrap the skein and drape it over your knees while sitting cross-legged, or place it over the back of a chair
  2. Cut the small ties holding the skein together. The beginning and end of the yarn will be secured to one of these ties.
  3. Choose one end and start winding the yarn around your fingers.
  4. Continue winding until the entire skein is wound into a ball.

If you're a visual learner, check out this video on how to wind yarn by hand.

Care Instructions

How should I care for my knits?

Caring for your handknits might seem intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! Always be sure to check the care instructions provided on your yarn for specifics. Wool and other natural fibers are naturally antimicrobial, durable, and odor-resistant—meaning your knits don’t need frequent washing like synthetic clothing.

If your piece needs a refresh, try hanging it outside for an hour or so. In the winter months, take advantage of fresh snow by gently burying your knits for about an hour; then shake off the snow and lay it flat to dry indoors. This simple trick helps freshen up your knitwear without the need for washing!

If you feel you would like to wash your handknits, soak in some cool water with a bit of wool wash or light detergent for about 20 minutes, and then lay flat to dry.
